The Concept

In the sport of rowing, when a team needs a quick burst of speed to overtake the competition, the rowers make a strategic move by taking the next 10 strokes at 110%, otherwise known as a “power ten”. The idea is that while you may have great technology--the latest/greatest boat, oars, etc--unless you have a great team (rowers AND coach) and a great strategy, the technology is useless. A "power 10" is often employed as the strategy to get the boat into a groove, and to gather momentum.
